How To Clean A Fridge Water Filter
Most modern refrigerators come equipped with a water filter to purify the unit’s water and ice. This water filter can be located in the base grille of the refrigerator or inside the refrigerator compartment.
A refrigerator water filter usually can be removed by giving it a counterclockwise one-quarter turn and pulling it out. Or a filter can have a large button located next to it that can be pushed to release the filter.
Once the filter has been removed, it is best to replace it with a new filter if you have one. If you don’t, cleaning the filter is another possibility.
Gently tap the filter over a waste bin to remove any excess debris.
Use a gentle household cleaner to soak all sides of the filter. Alternatively, cleaners specifically designed for filters can be purchased at many hardware or home repair stores. Let it soak into the filter for 10 minutes.
Rinse well with water until the water runs clear. Do not use hard pressure, as this can damage the filter.
Set the filter aside to air dry completely. Once dry, place the filter back into position in the refrigerator and gently push into place.
